Google Scholar ] performed a study in several Latin American hospitals, aiming to assess the outcomes of surgery for abdominal Crohn's disease (CD), comparing patients in whom surgery was performed because of a complication (stricture, fistulae), with those who underwent surgery at an earlier stage of the disease. The authors retrospectively collected data on 337 patients operated on over 8 years in ten inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD) specialised, academic, tertiary centres located in four Latin American countries.
