Abstract
An admirer of Lawrence of Arabia, Milman Parry was cut from the same romantic cloth as Heinrich Schliemann. Imbued with a peculiar conviction by their scrutiny of the Homeric texts, both men sought vindication in the field, Schliemann in Turkey, Parry in Yugoslavia.
