Abstract
La menopausia se caracteriza por una serie de modificaciones del cuerpo femenino causado por modulaciones que ocurren en la producción de estrógenos y andrógenos. Se hace una revisión de los conocimientos sobre las variaciones de estos esteroides, principalmente de los andrógenos, en la mujer posmenopáusica. Se trata de establecer la importancia del déficit de la prohormona testosterona y otros andrógenos, sus efectos clínicos y la posibilidad de revertirlos con medidas específicas.
