Abstract
The four non-nuclear UK Ministry of Defence (MoD) research establishments will merge to form the Defence Research Agency (DRA) this month under a chief executive reporting direct to the Secretary of State for Defence. The Chief Executive designate, Nigel Hughes, will have “significant additional financial freedom” according to the MoD and replaces the old MoD Controller of Establishments, Research and Nuclear Programmes.
