Abstract

The critical temperature of Ba 1- x K x BiO y was determined as a function of oxygen content y. With increasing oxygen content. T c and the Meissner volume fraction increased, reached a maximum and decreased. The logarithm of the conductivity σ at 250 and 100 K showed an oxygen content dependence similar to T c and it was concluded that T c has a close relation with log σ in the normal state. Pycnometry on Ba 1- x K x BiO y revealed that the ion deficiency reaches as high as 12%.
