Abstract

In October, officials from the United Auto Workers concluded negotiations with John Deere on behalf of 10,000 UAW members who work for Deere. Their leaders told them the draft contract included “significant economic gains.” Nevertheless, the majority rejected the agreement and in mid‐October machine workers from 14 Deere assembly plants in five states went out on strike. In Iowa, picketers were interfering with operations at one of the plants. The company sought an injunction to limit their activities and a state court promptly issued a temporary injunction to remain in effect until the strike ends.
