Abstract

Since Tulioch [1 ] showed that there is a probable relation between vanicocele and decreased male fertility, treatment of varicoceles in patients with fertility problems has become accepted [2]. Transcatheter occlusion of the spermatic vein with Gianturco coils is often used [3]. To be effective, these coils must be placed deeply in the spermatic vein, an often difficult maneuver as the usually used curved catheter may impact the vein wall or induce spasm. We report a technique that facilitates catheter replacement deep into the spermatic vein using a straight catheter.
