Deep Saturation in Low Salinity Reservoirs from Dual Laterolog Quadrature Signals

Abstract

Abstract In slialy sands with low salinity brines, resistivity logs show little contrast between oil and water zones. The phase angle computed from the quadrature signals of the Dual Laterolog, is significantly reduced in front of oil zones, even in very shaly reservoirs. This phenomenon is used as a basis to estimate deep water saturation.
