Abstract

Low-grade endometrioid adenocarcinomas are rarely associated with an undifferentiated malignancy and various forms of somatic differentiation representing a form of dedifferentiated carcinoma. We describe the case of a 64-year-old female with a resected adnexal mass with extensive peritoneal involvement diagnosed as yolk sac tumour. After several cycles of chemotherapy, the case was reviewed by a multidisciplinary team. Histopathology review showed a small focus of low grade endometrioid adenocarcinoma, prompting a final diagnosis of dedifferentiated carcinoma which allowed treatment with more appropriate chemotherapy.
