Abstract
Meyer Friedmann et al. (Lancet II: 464, 1971) reported that chronic administration of glucagon (2×500 μg/kg daily s.c. for a fortnight) strongly reduced the plasma cholesterol of normal rats (by about 40%) and prevented the development of experimental hypercholesterolemia. The present study confirms by dose-response curves in normal rats that “this hormone may be the most potent endogenous agent of the body in the regulation of plasma cholesterol”.
