Abstract

This paper seeks to illustrate why a decline in the significance of the Bulan Bintang Party (PBB) as an Islamic party at the 2019 Legislative Election which only received 0.79 percent of the national legitimate vote. Qualitative methods are used in collecting data and analyzing data. The research findings show that the decline of the PBB vote is closely related to the party's elite decision to support Jokowi-Ma'ruf in the 2019 Presidential election, which is not in line with the aspirations of the PBB mass base of modernist Islam. The party elite is too confident, the conditions of the voters are independent and ideological, and the clerics ask the people not to support the PBB.
