Abstract

A facile synthesis of side-chain protected amino acid via ferrous sulfide as the copper sequestering reagent is presented. The copper in the amino acid complex was reacted to form insoluble cupric sulfide and the free amino acid was released. This method is convenient, inexpensive and environmentally friendly compared to the currently used methods.
