Decoding Obfuscated Messages in Natural Disasters: The Market Paradigm Approach

Abstract

Because of a rising wave of deeply challenging natural disasters and the attendant several reports of huge losses in many countries, leadership at all levels were often incoherently portrayed in terms of their singular or respective preparedness and response, and/or commitment to protect lives and property. Consequently, the characteristic curve-flattening steps taken under several life-threatening environments were analyzed using the market paradigm. This was done to clarify the obfuscated messages in natural disasters (OMINDs) and, hence, prevent hopelessness from gravitating towards the fatally loud and audible cries of I can't breathe. Besides, the proactive measures often taken to address these disasters were integrated using the light of the scenarios of the market paradigm. The results obtained revealed the root cause of natural disasters whilst confirming global experiences of the COVID-19 pandemic and climate change. It was therefore concluded that the market paradigm is suitable for understanding the OMINDs, and would therefore bring about a coherent preparation, deployment, and assessment of efforts aimed at the prevention, monitoring, and/or mitigation of disasters.
