Declining Odds: Kinship, Women's Employment, and Political Economy in Rural Mexico

Abstract

Some women in San Cosme Mazatecochco, a rural community in central Mexico, whose families have more diverse networks and a slight economic advantage, use the community's flexible kinship system to get more secure employment. But their ability to do so is limited by the larger political economy.
