Abstract

This paper describes a problem of investment related decisions taken at the stage of maintenance and usage of buildings and highlights its multidimensional character. Examples of the assessment of possible options of solutions of heating systems have shown which criteria can be taken into consideration when the options are compared. The paper presents procedures adopted while solving such problems when Multi-Criteria Decision Aiding (MCDA) methods are employed. Replacing or modernising an existing heating system brings about a reduction in both energy consumption and emission of environmentally harmful substances and, therefore, the impact of a building on the environment.
