Abstract

We propose a new numerical method for the analysis of the statistical properties of the electron spectra of random systems at a given energy. By applying a decimation transformation to the two-dimensional Anderson model with diagonal disorder, the level spacing distribution at the band center is calculated for system sizes up to 1024×1024 lattice sites. The results show a crossover from the Wigner to the Poisson statistics when increasing the system size.
