Abstract

False target deceptive jamming to missile-borne SAR is an important jamming strategy in electronic countermeasures system. According to the motion characteristics of the missile-borne SAR platform, this paper presents a time domain jamming methodology to generate a false target to confuse missile-borne SAR or hinder its ability to identify true targets. The reconnaissance system intercepts the signal transmitted from missile-borne SAR, and detects the parameters of the missile-borne SAR, then sends them to the jammer. The jammer computes the delay time and phase term according to the expected false targets, delays the received missile-borne SAR signal, multiplies the phase and the reflectivity coefficient of the point target, then adds all the processed false targets jamming signals and retransmits them to the missile-borne SAR. The jamming signal could generate a false target or a set of false targets in SAR image to confuse or hinder its ability of the missile-borne SAR to identify true targets.
