Abstract

Abstract This paper deals with the problem of decentralized adaptive load frequency control (LFC) of a large scale power system. A new decoupled parameter estimation and an optimal decentralized load frequency control strategy is developed. A continuous corrected extended Kalman filter is developed to give the accurate estimation of the physical parameters of LFC. With the minimal order interaction models being established, only the measurements of the frequency and tie-line power exchanges of the study subsystem of the large power system are needed for estimation and control, while the influences of other subsystems on the study subsystem are fully considered.
