Abstract
Deceased donor exchange is not a novel concept with simulations and experience dating back almost 20 years. There is wide acknowledgement of the potential to expand the number of kidney transplants. (1) (2) (3) Organ Procurement and Transplantation Network (OPTN)/United Network for Organ Sharing (UNOS) formulated intermittent workgroups dating back to 2013 and with renewed interest, the OPTN/UNOS Kidney Committee presented a concept paper in 2017 discussing 3 potential models.(4).
