Abstract

Our previous work on the influence of hydrodynamic effects on the relaxation of concentration fluctuations in liquid mixtures is extended to include the effects of strong diffusion. The fluctuations migrate, as in the diffusionless case, towards the largest scales at a rate dictated by the instantaneous value of the fluctuation strength. Experimental tests of our theory are suggested and discussed.
