Abstract
The radioactive decay of 195Hg ( T 1/2 = 10h) and 195mHg(T 1/2 = 41h) has been studied using Ge(Li) detectors and Ge(Li) γγ coincidence spectrometers; conversion electron spectra have been measured with a Si(Li) detector and a double-focussing magnetic β-ray spectrometer. In the γ-ray spectrum of both isomers 80 transitions have been found, of which 19 were incorporated into the decay scheme for the first time. The γγ coincidence experiment and energy relations indicate the existence of 28 excited levels, eight of which have been proposed for the first time. The internal conversion intensity ratios for L and M subshells yielded the multipolarity of 8 transitions. The α k internal conversion coefficients have been determined by comparing internal conversion and γ-ray intensities for 30 transitions. Transition probabilities for the low excited states of 195Au have been compared with theoretical estimates.
