Abstract

The bi-directional radiation characteristics and corresponding performance under high CW power of a planar log-periodic (LP) antenna is investigated experimentally and demonstrated within a wide bandwidth. Two LP configurations are designed and built on 20 mil and 60 mil substrates with tapered and multi-section microstrip feeds, respectively. Results show that the developed LP antennas are able to handle at least 50 W and 200 W of CW power at 5 GHz.
