Abstract

We begin by looking at the causes of the postpandemic staffing crisis and evaluate its impact on the orthodontic industry. Strategies to minimize the negative impact of this talent shortage are discussed. A smart recruitment plan that has specific, measurable goals should be implemented. Various aspects of a successful recruitment plan like creating compelling job descriptions, posting on nontraditional platforms, using internal employee referrals to hire, monitoring your online employer reputation, treating potential employees like customers, the inclusion of the team in the hiring process, designing a consistent and professional onboarding process, and, using key performance indicators to monitor the efficacy of the recruitment strategy are highlighted. The article also discusses the importance of creating a positive workplace culture. Several ways to foster a desirable work culture are discussed, including clarifying the company mission and vision, compensating fairly and incentivizing, instituting open communication channels, and encouraging employee personal development. Shifting the focus from managing to leading is crucial to engaging the team and achieving long-term practice growth goals.
