Abstract

The COVID‐19 pandemic created massive worldwide disruption. The SARS‐CoV‐2 virus accounted for over one million deaths in the United States, with over 89 million individuals infected with the virus. As we learn more about the virus, more research is identifying long‐term symptoms of infection, currently referred to as “Long COVID.” According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report, approximately one in five COVID‐19 survivors aged 18–64 have Long COVID. See Lara Bull‐Otterson et al., Post–COVID Conditions Among Adult COVID‐19 Survivors Aged 18–64 and ≥65 Years, Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report, 71(21), 713–717 (May 24, 2022).
