Abstract

Bruno Frey examines four different approaches to dealing with terrorism in his recent book, Dealing With Terrorism - Stick or Carrot. He names these approaches as “stick, carrot, diffusion of targets, and information control.” He applies microeconomic thinking to his evaluation of these different approaches and presents the argument that too much emphasis has been placed on the “stick” method of control.
