Abstract

Whether perfectionist or procrastinator, it is natural to dread a deadline. No matter what profession (ie, journalist, teacher, lawyer, congressman, or surgeon), the panic of a looming deadline is what nightmares are made of. Christopher Cox's recent publication “The Deadline Effect” explores the power of deadlines.1 His book describes how deadlines have the potential to either paralyze or motivate and empower the individual to solve problems (big or small) for which the theoretical line in the sand has been drawn.
