Abstract
The efficiency and performance of any port depend crucially on the management of the container terminal resources, facilities, services provided, easy entrance, labour skill, storage capacity and equipment. This study applies one method of efficiency analysis for containers terminal production function. For this purpose, we applied DEA Malmquist productivity index model a non-parametric frontier approach to evaluate the efficiency of 22 container terminals in the region of East Africa and the Middle East. The DEA model is based on panel data collected for six years (2000-2005). The method decomposes the technical change and the efficiency change in evaluating and management of the above container terminals.
