Abstract

Tullio de Mauro (b. 1932) is the most important linguist in mid-20th-century Italian linguistics. He has worked on many aspects of the language (historical Italian, applied and theoretical research, semantics, lexicography, and philosophy of language) and has influenced the national educational and cultural policies of Italy.
