From the recent, novel paradigm of the micro-historical analysis of social networks, an improvement on both the traditional analysis of families and the purely prosopographic approach, this essay attempts to explain the essential role played by the finance officers of seventeenth and eighteenth century New Spain, as well as the complex transformations undergone by this same stratum within the overall framework of this curve in the history of New Spain
