Abstract
Observation of the de Haas-van Alphen effect in a single crystal of yttrium (resistance ratio 120) which was refined by solid-state electrotransport processing is reported. At the c axis two frequencies (3.27*106 G and 3.9*106 G) were observed. The first, for which the cyclotron mass was found to be 0.39+or-0.01 m0, is interpreted as the orbit delta of Loucks' APW model (1966). The second can also be explained on this model by the introduction of spin-orbit coupling.
