Abstract
This paper presents the development of the DC transformer's model for optimal power flow (OPF) using interior point (IP) algorithm. The DC transformer's ability to control the voltage magnitudes of the dc network is well represented by the model. In this work, the DC transformer system equations are incorporated directly into matpower ® toolbox. The superiority of the DC transformer model and its incorporation in Matpower ® AC OPF is confirmed via one large scale power systems which is the Pan European Grid with 13659 buses, also a comparison DC transformer versus AC transformer is discussed.
