Abstract
The dc electrical conductivity of several series of sodium and potassium galliosilicate glasses was measured. The property/composition relations observed in the present study are similar to those found for alkali aluminosilicate glasses, thus suggesting a similarity in the structural roles of aluminum and gallium ions. The present data are discussed in terms of this role. In addition, the influence of silica content, alkali content, and alkali identity on the electrical properties of these glasses is discussed.
