Abstract

The current-voltage characteristics of pure and Fe 3+-doped polystyrene films have been studied in the voltage range 0–300 V as a function of film temperature and dopant concentration. The conduction mechanisms operative in the films in different temperature and voltage ranges were estimated from the behaviour of log I versus V 1 2 plots. For undoped (pure) films the conduction mechanism appears to be essentially Schottky type. On doping, there was considerable influence on the type of conduction mechanism specially at lower temperatures. At high temperatures, however, there was no significant effect of doping on the conduction mechanism.
