Abstract

Summary form only given; In this paper, the effect of dielectric electrode materials on ozone generation is investigated using an ozone generator constructed by the PT. Four kinds of dielectric materials having different thermal conductivity (0.75-185 W/mK) were prepared for dielectric barrier electrodes and ozone generations were carried out. In continuous running of the generator, temporal decrease in ozone concentration is observed due to the temperature increase inside the reactor. The results show that the higher ozone concentration with the lower temporal decrease is basically obtained by the electrode materials having large thermal conductivities. This means that the dielectric material having the higher thermal conductivity works well for heat sink to transfer the generated heat to outside through the material. From the measurements of voltage-current waveforms and Lissajous figures for the DBD, the discharge mode depends upon the dielectric electrode materials, which is also dominant factor to cause the ozone decomposition due to the temperature increase.
