Abstract

Studies were conducted in a controlled and filtered biodiesel exhaust by injecting different concentrations of ozone to observe the reduction in oxides of nitrogen. The ozone was generated in a dielectric discharge barrier (DBD) plasma. Diesel engine was fed with 100% biofuel obtained from a native Indian plant, pongamia pinnata. In addition to the experimental studies, the effect of ozone on NO2 production and NO x removal was estimated using the dimensional analysis approach. It was observed that the estimated results were closely agreeing with the experimental ones.
