Abstract

To the Editor.— Ditto! (1983;249:2090) Capitol Hill Hospital, a 250-bed community hospital, realized the importance of employer-sponsored day care and proudly opened our child care center in October 1982. The center is located within the hospital and serves approximately 36 children from ages 3 months to 4 years. The hospital was able to create a bright and stimulating environment for a minimal start-up cost. Additionally, by establishing a contractual relationship with the Capitol East Children's Center, a local child care center, we have minimized our personnel expenses. Capitol Hill Hospital presently subsidizes more than 50% of the tuition. The result: improved employee morale and more qualified nurses, at a very inexpensive cost. Our biggest problem to date—When can we expand?
