The Birth of Theater from the Spirit of Philosophy presents a reading of Nietzsche as a theorist of the theatre, followed by a careful study of three playwrights – Strindberg, Shaw, and O’Neill – each of whom, David Kornhaber argues, was demonstrably influenced by Nietzsche’s theatre theory.
