Abstract

Efficient organisation of business, small, medium or large, is to combine management concepts with information technology. This is what Business informatics is all about. These days it is unimaginable to have a successful business without the use of information technology. If an organisation wants to achieve business intelligence, there is no way to avoid the use of management information systems. Most medium to large organisations have social and community initiatives and programs as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) division. However, its functionality and reach in many organisations lacks use of available technology and systems. As a result, the response to and delivery of community and social services is often slow rendering the services ineffective and times obsolete. Aim of this article is to demonstrate how CSR functions can be designed and implemented as database solutions to make their delivery effective and efficient. Our description CSR is provided mainly in the case of the National Commercial Bank, a well-known and major bank of Saudi Arabia. However the business database solutions are generic and may be applicable in many providers be they banks or other institutions.
