Abstract

Since June 1989, a consortium of partners from Belgium, England, France, Germany and Wales has been working to a contract with the AIM (Advanced Informatics in Medicine) Programme of the European Economic Community, on the development of a Minimum Basic Data Set (MBDS) for Ambulatory Care. In fact, two Data Sets have been produced, an encounter-based MBDS, and a “Patient-Related Data Set” (PRDS) with information concerning past and present episodes of health care, and important background health information — in essence a summarised Patient Health Career.
