Abstract

This article describes the various data security features supported by the relational database language SQL. Apart from the usual commands for data manipulation, SQL has a set of commands for constructing and maintaining the database structures. The language offers a dynamic database structure as opposed to conventional database systems. The same applies to data security. Most of the SQL commands regarding data security are dynamic in nature. These commands cover the following aspects: user authorities, integrity, recovery and locking.
