Abstract

NASDA has carried out the basic interorbit communication experiments using ETS-VI (Engineering Test Satellite) in 1995. Being based on the ETS-VI experiments, COMETS (Communications and Broadcasting Engineering Test Satellite) will be launched in 1997. Following ETS-VI and COMETS, NASDA is planning network operation high data rate transmission experiments using two DRTSs (Data Relay Test Satellites). DRTSs will be launched by the H4I rocket around the year 2000. The object of the experiments is to establish a communication infrastructure for Japan's space activities such as Earth observation and international space station projects. This paper shows the results of the DRTSS conceptual design from 1994 to 1995. (Author)
