Abstract

Abstract Study of the synergistic properties of promising corrosion inhibition compounds has been a major focus of research. Comparative evaluation of the corrosion inhibition effect of vanillin (VA) and vanillin admixed with rosmarinus officinalis (VARO) on mild steel in 1 M H2SO4 and HCl solution was performed through coupon measurement. Data obtained show VA performed effectively at all concentrations studied with optimal inhibition efficiency of 96.60% and 92.11% in H2SO4 and HCl solutions. VARO performed effectively in HCl solution with optimal value of 95.63% compared to its average performance in HCl at 66.17% in H2SO4.
