Abstract
Abstract Data in this report briefs on experimental and characterization of 2-aminopyridine potassium dihydrogen orthophosphate (2APKDP). Optical quality crystal of 2-aminopyridine potassium dihydrogen orthophosphate (2APKDP) was grown by slow evaporation technique at room temperature. The presences of functional groups were identified in the synthesized material by FT-IR analysis. Powder XRD pattern of 2APKDP crystal confirms the crystalline nature and their corresponding (h k l) values are indexed. Single crystal XRD analysis reveals that the 2APKDP crystal crystallizes in tetragonal crystal system with noncentrosymmetric space group I4. UV–vis-NIR spectrum shows that the grown crystal has lower cut off wavelength 397 nm. The mechanical strength of the grown crystal was analyzed by Vicker's microhardness test. The second order nonlinear optical property of 2APKDP sample was analyzed by Kurtz–Perry powder technique and SHG efficiency value is 1.2 times greater than that of standard KDP. Element present in 2APKDP crystal were identified by EDAX analysis.
