Abstract

An object-oriented data model is defined to describe parametrized multibody systems. Class descriptions for an object-oriented database and a file format for data exchange files are directly derived from the data model. The development of an open, modular and extendable software package for the synthesis and design of mechanical systems is based on that data model.
