Abstract

Software Defined Networking (SDN) is an evolutionary paradigm, that makes the network programmable, vendor neutral and easily configurable. Unlike traditional networks, in SDN the global network state is available at a logical central point of control. These features make SDN, perfectly suited for effectively applying data mining techniques which will help for better routing decisions, proactive security considerations, efficient traffic classification, and high performance. With the integration of SDN with real-time streaming platforms for big data, SDN will emerge as a promising solution in intelligent networking. This paper presents the recent research works in SDN data mining in the context of security and traffic classification. Feature selection for SDN and benefits of jointly considering SDN and big data techniques has also been discussed here.
