Abstract

How to analyze the efficiency of actions, productions, or organizational units is a fundamental problem of economic research. As a novel technique based on linear programming that evaluates the relative performance of similar units, data envelopment analysis (DEA) refers to decision making units (DMUs). In this paper, we present a literature survey on the application of data envelopment analysis (DEA). Beginning with an introduction to the most widely used DEA technique, the paper will discuss some issues on the selection of appropriate DEA models, helping researchers interested in DEA to study issues.
