Abstract

Telerehabilitation is increasingly utilized in today’s rehabilitation environment. Data Envelope Analysis can be a tool for measuring cost effectiveness. Measuring cost effectiveness is necessary since current resource levels in rehabilitation and other human service and health systems are stretched with increasing service demands. Telerehabilitation is one potential solution for reaching more service recipients, maintaining and perhaps increasing service quality. Data Envelope Analysis is described along with how it measures cost effectiveness. Several Data Envelope Analysis illustrations within rehabilitation are offered, limitations stated, and reasons this tool is a useful fit for measuring cost effectiveness of rehabilitation services delivered via telerehabilitation.
