Abstract

We live in an age of information overload, and scientific literature is no exception. Since their invention in 1665, well over 50 million scholarly articles have been published [ 1 Jinha A. Article 50 million: an estimate of the number of scholarly articles in existence. Learned Publishing. 2010; 23: 258-263 Crossref Scopus (248) Google Scholar ]. It has been estimated that 2.5 million new scientific articles are published yearly—that’s about 5 articles a minute! As the number of active researchers grows and publication costs fall, this rate will continue to rise across disciplines, including radiology. It is no wonder that radiologists often feel overwhelmed when seeking to stay current in their field.
