Abstract
Indonesia is actively supporting the research process that is conducted in their research institutions, by providing research funds for them. Many research institutions in Indonesia work in the similar field and their funding could also come from the same source. Based on that reason, there is a need to evaluate the data curation and research data management processes at Indonesian research institutions. The purposes of this research are to evaluate the existing research data conditions at several research institutions, issues associated with research data management, standards and tools to support the implementation of research data management, also finding a way to achieve research data integration for research institutions in Indonesia. Interviews were used as the method to gain data from several research institutions in Indonesia then it was analysed with the qualitative data analysis. Ultimately, the result shows that data access problem, data collection and awareness of researcher are the main complexities of the research data management process. While policies and regulations on research data management are considered important by research institutions to guide them along the process. The result also shows that integration between research institutions could be achieved by using supporting tools and protocols such as OAI-PMH (The Open Archives Initiative Protocol for Metadata Harvesting) and API (Application Programming Interface), integrated system and standard data format.
