Abstract
Many companies are beginning to embrace Data Analytics, the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) and digitalization with the intended purpose of optimizing maintenance practices. The ultimate objective is to increase revenue by reducing operating cost and maximizing production. Unfortunately, embracing IIoT and digitization in and of itself is not enough. To truly optimize plant operations via effective predictive maintenance practices, a holistic approach coupled with expert level analysis is necessary. The motor is the heart of the drivetrain system and through information gained by motor sensors, insight can be inferred on the operation of the entire drivetrain. It is only possible to enhance production and predictive maintenance by continuously monitoring all the data and then reducing the data with expert level analysis so that concise and actionable conclusions are presented to those responsible for plant operations.
